Generic information (email reply) for people interested in KM Summit 09: FAQ

Thanks for indicating you are interested in the upcoming Coast Guard Knowledge Management Summit to be held in Houston from 18-20 February 2008.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
You’ll find our general information page, on Intelink-U, at
http://tinyurl.com/cgkms09home
Please note that to view this page, you will either need to be inside the CGDN or logged on to Intlink-U through Passport.

REGISTERING TO ATTEND:
If you would like to attend, please surf to:
http://tinyurl.com/cgkms09part
and enter your name as directed. Please note, this page is on Intelink-U; you’ll need a Passport/Intelink-U account to enter your name on the page. Creating an account will be well worth your while, as you’ll discover at the Summit, if not before. If, for some reason, you can’t add your name, please just get in touch with me with the requested information.

OUR BLOG:
Please check out our blog at
http://cgkmsummit2009.blogspot.com/
You’ll find much good information there. We will be making additional posts as we get closer to the Summit. You would be well advised to either add the RSS feed to your reader, list the blog as one you follow in Blogger, or mark your calendar to visit at least weekly. I suggest the RSS feed. If you don’t have an RSS reader, consider getting one. I recommend web-based readers; the two which seem to be the best are Bloglines (or Bloglines Beta) and Google Reader. They’re the same in terms of functionality, but different in methodology. Both are accessible from any Internet-connected computer:
http://www.bloglines.com/ or http://beta.bloglines.com/
http://www.google.com/reader/

SEEKING PRESENTATIONS FOR THE SUMMIT:
Please consider presenting at the Summit. We are interested in learning about what folks are doing in the CG with regard to KM. You’ll find information about submitting a presentation here:
http://tinyurl.com/cgkms09a
And you can submit a presentation idea here:
http://tinyurl.com/cgkms09presentations
Once again, that’s on Intelink-U, so a Passport/Intelink-U user account would be helpful

GET YOUR OWN PASSPORT/INTELINK-U USER ACCOUNT:
You can get your Passport/Intelink-U account here:
https://www.intelink.gov/passport/Welcome
You’ll need to provide a .mil or .gov email account; best to create your account while sitting at your desk inside the CGDN (or some other appropriate domain). If you are not a CG or federal employee, we can see about getting you access to Intelink-U. Details on non-government personnel gaining access to Intelink-U can be found here:
http://ra.intelink.gov/#eligib
Please contact the summit coordinator if you are not an automatically eligible Intelink-U user and we'll see what we can do:

LODGING AT THE SUMMIT LOCATION
We have arranged for lodging at the Summit location, the Springhill Suites near the Houston Hobby Airport. For information about lodging and how to make reservations, please see:
